Kealakehe Elementary School #

Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi — One hundred forty 3rd grade students from Kealakehe Elementary School started the Hawaii Aquatics Academy’s Aquatic Safety Education Program today. During this school quarter, the students will participate in aquatic safety classroom lessons at their school and weekly pool lessons at the Kona Community Aquatic Center. The classroom lessons introduce aquatic safety knowledge topics, such as the identification of local hazards, life jacket use, risk management, and personal limits. The pool lessons develop survival swim skills, such as safe entries, safe exits, floating, treading, orienting, and swimming on their front, back, and side.
