Keiki Clinic with Olympic Gold Medalist Anthony Ervin #

Honolulu, Oʻahu — Sixty-three 2nd grade Voyager Public Charter School students participated in a Keiki Water Safety Clinic today. The Hawaii Aquatics Academy sponsored clinic featured Olympic Gold Medalist Anthony Ervin (USA) and Olympian Azad Al-Barazi (Syria). A variety of aquatic safety topics were taught including the buddy system, reach and assist rescue skills, and how to identify local hazards and risks. The children also practiced recovering from an unexpected entry into the water which is a leading cause of fatal and non-fatal drownings among children and young adults.
