Chrome Profiles #
Introduction #
With Chrome's profile manager, it is possible to organize and separate your Chrome browser information (i.e., bookmarks, history, passwords, contacts, and extensions) between different Google accounts (e.g., personal and professional). It is recommended that Hawaii Aquatics staff create a dedicated work-related Chrome profile so that they can consolidate all of their Hawaii Aquatics-related user information into a profile that is kept separate from their other accounts. It is important to make sure that you have the correct profile loaded before you begin any work. In order to maintain access to certain features, such as the Hawaii Aquatics Google Team Drives, you will need to make sure that you have the Hawaii Aquatics profile active.
Create your Hawaii Aquatics profile #
Step 1 #
Note: Only first-time Chrome users will see the one-time message/window displayed in Step 1. If you do not see the Make Chrome your own message/window, you can proceed to Step 2.
Click the Already a Chrome user? Sign in text and proceed to Step 3.
Step 2 #
Click the profile icon located near the upper-right corner of the Chrome browser. Then, click + Add text located near the bottom of the popup window.
Step 3 #
Click the blue Sign in button to sign in to your Chrome account.
Step 4 #
After clicking the Sign in button, you will then be asked to enter in your email or phone number. Type in your Hawaii Aquatics email address, then click the blue Next button.
Step 5 #
If your information was entered correctly, you will then be asked to Enter your password for your account. Type in your password, then click the blue Next button.
Step 6 #
After successfully logging in, you will be notified that your account is managed by hawaiiaquatics.org. Click the blue Next button to proceed.
Note: This step only occurs if you are creating a Chrome profile using a hawaiiaquatics.org email address. If you are setting up a Chrome profile with a different email address (e.g., for personal use or for use with a different work account) you can ignore this step and proceed to Step 7.
Step 7 #
You will be asked if you want to turn on the sync feature. It is recommended that you enable sync so that you can maintain account consistency across multiple devices. Click your preferred option (i.e., Yes, I’m in or No thanks) to proceed.
Step 8 #
After successfully logging and creating a new Chrome profile, you will receive a popup notification allowing you to customize your profile. Customization is optional. Click the blue Done button to finish setup.
Switch between Chrome profiles #
It is recommended that you follow the steps above to create both a Hawaii Aquatics-related Chrome profile, and a personal Chrome profile for other use. When re-opening the browser after quitting or shutting down, you will be prompted to choose which Chrome Profile you want to use.
If Chrome is already open, you can switch between Chrome profiles by following the steps below. Note that the current Chrome profile and browser window will stay open, and either a new window will open with the selected Chrome profile, or the browser window with the selected Chrome profile will be brought to the front.
Step 1 #
Click the profile symbol located near the upper-right corner of the Chrome browser.
Step 2 #
Select one of the Other profiles listed near the bottom of the popup window.
