Installing the desktop app  #

The desktop application for Zoom will serve as the primary means of accessing the software for most users.

Step 1  #

Go to:

https://zoom.us/download

Step 2  #

You will be directed to the Download Center for Zoom. Various apps and plugins can be downloaded from this page.

Step 3  #

Scroll down to Zoom Client for Meetings (located near the top of the page) and click the blue Download button. If you are currently operating a Chrome OS computer, skip over to step 7.

Step 4  #

A notification will pop up indicating that the application file (i.e. exe or dmg file) has started downloading.

Step 5  #

To access your downloads and/or check their progress:

a. Click (located near the top-right corner of your browser)

b. Move your cursor down the list of options and click Downloads.

Step 6  #

A new tab will automatically open up in your browser. You can click the blue Show in folder text to locate and open up the folder on your computer that contains the application file.

Step 7  #

Run the package installer by double-clicking the application file (or by right-clicking and clicking Run/Install) whenever the file is finished downloading. The Zoom application should open upon completion.

Installing the Chrome extension  #

The Chrome extension for Zoom provides an alternative method of accessing the software, and can optionally be downloaded in addition to the primary desktop software. If the user is operating a Google Chromebook computer, this is actually the ONLY method of accessing Zoom, since the operating system is incapable of downloading traditional desktop applications and software.

You will be directed to the Download Center for Zoom. Various apps and plugins can be downloaded from this page.

Step 3  #

To download the Zoom Chrome extension, navigate to Zoom Extension for Browsers. Click the black Get from Chrome Web Store button.

Step 4  #

In the newly opened tab, navigate towards the top-right of the page and click the blue + ADD TO CHROME button.

Step 5  #

A pop-up window will appear. Click the Add extension button.

Step 6  #

After installation, the icon for Zoom Scheduler should appear near the top of your Chrome browser window.
